Enthusiasts looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait the full month. A exciting trial experience is set to become available on Jan. 7, offering a sizable taste into the game's opening hours. Notably, any advancement made within this demo can be imported directly into the complete game upon its February launch.
More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Thorough Reimagining
This project is a from-scratch re-envisioning of the landmark year 2000 role-playing game, initially titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct step away from other series re-releases, like the previously released HD-2D iterations, this version embraces a unique three-dimensional visual presentation. Locales are designed to look like detailed miniature worlds, with party members having a delightful stylized look.
"Taking into account the previous remake, the narrative was remained notoriously long. So we came to a determination that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this experience for modern players."
Key Mechanical Changes and Modernizations
The creators has added a host of enhancements to update the classic gameplay loop. Among these are:
- Quick Overworld Encounters: Inspired by modern role-playing games, low-level enemies can now be defeated directly on the overworld map without initiating a separate traditional combat screen.
- Adjustable Combat Pace: Players can accelerate combat animations to quickly power through simpler encounters.
- Expanded Vocation Mechanics: One brand new job class has been introduced for this remake. Additionally, characters now have the option to master a second job, greatly enhancing strategic depth.
These alterations are aimed at mitigate a key the 2000 game's common criticisms: its immense length. That initial adventure could easily take more than 100 hours to finish. This new edition has been expressly designed to refine progression and cut down on perceived bloat.
