Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive year.
The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of Consistency
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and picked up a record £11m in prize money.
She earned almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
