'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Unaccounted For Teenagers Desperately Seek Information After Alpine Inferno
The families of young people unaccounted for after a deadly fire at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are enduring an agonising wait for official news and pleading for clues about their loved ones via social media.
The inferno engulfed the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated footage depict the ceiling igniting as bottles with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Emergency services have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the disaster, which killed four dozen individuals and wounded another over a hundred. A spokesperson stated on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to name the final individuals.
