Followers Demand Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are calling for that a man who breached a fence and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared video reveals the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being arrested", though official papers showed that he was set to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further response on Instagram.
A number of fans also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Many of fans had congregated in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The movie, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-part version of the acclaimed stage production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two contrasting sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
