Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Worries.
'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson leaves the field suffering a hamstring problem.
Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems after leaving the field early on day two in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.
Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over on Saturday.
The England team stated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and required time on the sidelines to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".
The final Test of the series at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.
England have been without key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain on the current trip.
A replacement bowler was called up to provide backup.
The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, taking just three wickets.
He was left out for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.
The county bowler improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, then making 28 with the bat being one of only three England players who passed ten runs.
Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he resumed for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.
Unfortunately, on the final ball of his spell, he sent down a variation to the batsman and immediately felt for his hamstring.
The English bowler returned to the side for the Melbourne match following his omission of the third.
