This young athlete maintains impressive social media audience
The young golfer can count on multiple prominent supporters when she starts her professional golf debut later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to a former US president, obtained a sponsor's invitation to participate at the Annika competition in Florida.
The former president, a passionate golfer, possesses multiple courses worldwide and frequently matches against his granddaughter.
"He's pretty good. I can't say much but we have competitive games," she stated.
She mentioned that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He practically told me to compete and have fun," she added.
"In my eyes, he's simply a regular grandfather. He's not attending this weekend. He's occupied with presidential duties, so he's quite busy."
As an amateur, Kai has competed in a mere three competitions this year and maintains ranking 461 in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
Yet she's able to seek guidance from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with Kai's mother.
"He is the top athlete globally," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's a superior person. He advised me to play, have fun, adapting to whatever happens."
The golfer will compete against some of top competitors in women's golf at the Annika, such as second-ranked Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Tournament organizers stated that Kai's presence exposes the sport to new audiences, specifically reaching younger fans.
The young star has substantial online presence and has started a personal fashion and living company.
The competition starts at 17:30 GMT.
