Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be pepper spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and charges for administering a noxious substance, as confirmed by court officials.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.

A three-year-old girl was among those injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
